Flowerhill is based in 250 acres of beautiful East Galway country side. We are surrounded with green fields, woods, the Kilcrow river, nature, wildlife and most importantly wonderful horses. Flowerhill is called the horse lovers heaven for good reason. We have a cross country course which consists of approximately 100 jumping efforts with numerous combinations. This includes four water jumps, two jumping lanes which have 9 - 12 fences on each. Not forgetting to mention the 70 other fences which start from 80cms to 110cms. The more confident you get the more you can do. We also have a show jumping style cross country which belongs to our friend Vincent Shields. This is set on 1 acre with 15 fences in a course. In addition Vincent has a farm 1 mile on horse back from Flowerhill. There are 6 fences on this land and by June 2005 there will be another 30 jumping efforts. We ride on neighbouring farms which includes crossing a river, fun gallops up hill, and another 15 cross country fences. This gives us more a varied combinations and riding actives and helps our riders upgrade to a greater skill level.

Riding

We have a wide range of equestrian services on offer. We have onsite Farrier, a visiting chiropractor, and an equestrian vet to take care of your horse. For the rider we have instructors, pre hunting tuition, a cross country course with over 200 acres and hundreds of jumping efforts. Apart from the horse and rider we have work programs for students. We can bring you to a traditional Irish horse fair, or teach you the basics of looking after a horse. Drop us a line for a full list of what's on offer.

Cross Country

Our cross country course is built around our farm, with most of the 190 jumping efforts. All jumps have an optional easy way out. It's unique in the sense that's its joins onto the undisturbed natural farmland at Flowerhill. We have the advantage of having 1 mile of the Kilcrow river, with its shivering waters and rippling currents weaving its way through our ranch. Adjoining this we have several water jumping obstacles set into the natural landscape. We organise at your discretion what you might want to achieve. We then plan your route and your ability over this terrain. Even if you don't feel up to it on the day why not take a leisurely stroll in the woods or canter in the fresh air and enjoy the feeling of togetherness and partnership with your horse

We organise daily, hourly or weekly individual or family outings where parents and children can ride together. If necessary we can split the ride to give the more ambitious the opportunity to fill their hearts with the more "dare devil adrenalin" which you will achieve accelerating around our estate.

Private cross country or show jumping clinics can be arranged. Don't be afraid to give us your complete riding preferences and requirements. This always helps us to select a suitable horse or pony to maximise your feeling, of experiencing something new.
What better than a days hunting on horse back ? Whether it be fox hunting or drag the feeling is similar. The thrill of cross country jumping , the hounds working, or the sheer style of this equestrian sport is available to everyone at Flowerhill, be they a complete beginner or a well seasoned rider.

Pre hunt instruction is available usually the day before you hunt. You can adopt yourself to your saddle and horse, familiarise yourself with the hunting seat which, in effect, maximises your chance of completing a full days hunting.
